1 October 2026 β Meta changes how it charges for messages
This is Meta's pricing change and Meta's date, not a Dapta release.
Service messages become billable. Those are the free-form replies your agent sends inside the 24-hour window. Meta charges per delivered message, at the utility rate of the recipient's country.
Every business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month. Charging starts at the 1,001st. The allowance resets monthly, does not roll over, and the month begins at midnight in your WhatsApp Business Account's time zone.
Utility templates sent inside the 24-hour window become billable. They had been free since July 2025.
Still free: messages your customers send you, failed messages, and the 72-hour window opened by Click-to-WhatsApp ads.
If your line was connected the previous way, you are covered. Dapta is absorbing this increase on legacy lines. There is no surcharge, no price change for now, and no retirement date.
β WhatsApp billing: legacy and direct lines
September 2026
New WhatsApp lines connect directly through Meta. New lines use the WhatsApp API card in Text Agents β Channels β both a standard WhatsApp Business API number and a number already in use on the WhatsApp Business app. β Connect your Agent with WhatsApp Β· Prepare your Meta account
Lines connected the previous way now live under Legacy lines. They keep working exactly as they do today, on a single Dapta invoice. You do not have to reconnect. β WhatsApp billing: legacy and direct lines
You can keep the WhatsApp Business app on the phone. Your team goes on replying from the phone while an agent works the same number, and both show up in Inbox. If Meta's own assistant is switched on for that number, turn it off before connecting. β Prepare your Meta account
Your line is protected while a sequence runs. Dapta watches quality, holds daily sending limits, warms up a new line gradually, respects opt-outs, and pauses marketing by itself when the evidence says the line is at risk β with the reason shown so you can fix it and resume. β Message logic and limits
A clear split on direct lines. Dapta charges for the agent, Meta charges for delivering the messages to your own Meta account. Nothing is charged twice. β WhatsApp billing Β· How credits work
Message templates: import, sync and carousels. Bring in the templates your Meta account already has, refresh their approval status from Dapta, and build carousel templates with up to ten cards. β WhatsApp message templates Β· Which template type do you need

Also worth knowing
Meta has its own AI assistant inside WhatsApp Business. Meta has been expanding it through 2026, and it is a separate product from Dapta β connecting your line to Meta does not switch it on, and using Dapta does not require it. If it is enabled on a number you want Dapta to answer on, turn it off first: your Dapta agent becomes the AI on that number, and your team can still reply by hand from the app.
