How to enter proper context and instructions

In this section, you will learn how to create your first AI call agent, including the initial steps and instructions for training and testing your agent.

Step 1: From the main menu, go to Voice Agents > Agents.


Step 2: On the Agents page, click New Agent in the top right corner.


Step 3: Fill out your Company Context.

  • Company Name: Enter the name of your company.

  • Company Description: Provide a brief description of what your company does. This helps the agent understand your business.

💡 You can also choose an existing company context by clicking use existing company context at the top.

Click Save and continue to move to the next step.


Step 5: Select Your Agent’s Purpose

Choose the purpose that best fits your agent’s role. This helps Dapta tailor its behavior and prompt style to match the use case.

  • Language: Choose the language your agent will speak.

  • Identity Name: This is the name of your agent (e.g., Brian). It will be used in introductions and throughout the conversation.

  • Purpose: Select from the predefined options below, or choose Custom to define your own.

Available options for Purpose include:

  • 📅 Schedule Meetings – Help leads book a time on your calendar.

  • 📞 Meeting Confirmation Call – Confirm upcoming appointments with leads or clients.

  • 📞 Lead Qualification Call – Ask pre-set questions to determine if a lead is a good fit.

  • 💻 Customer Service & Support – Answer product or service-related inquiries.

  • 📅 Send Reminders – Remind leads or customers about meetings, payments, or events.

  • 💰 Debt Collection Call – Handle payment recovery in a compliant manner.

  • 🛠 Custom – Don’t see what you need? Choose this option to define your own unique purpose.

✅ If your use case doesn't fall under the predefined options, select "Custom" and describe your agent’s purpose in detail in the instructions box below.

  • Important Instructions: This is where you tell your agent what to do. Think of it like giving them a quick playbook—what’s their goal, what kind of tone should they use, how should they handle common situations, etc. Click Save and continue to move forward.


Step 6: Test Your Agent

In this step, Dapta automatically generates the first version of your agent's prompt based on the context you’ve provided so far. This prompt acts as the script your AI agent will follow on calls.

🧠 Prompt Overview

✨ The prompt is fully customizable and can be edited in detail later in Advanced Settings.

The auto-generated prompt includes:

  • Agent Identity & Objectives

  • Company and Product Context

  • Objection Handling Strategies

  • Communication Standards (tone, pronunciation, style)

  • Call Flow

  • Input Variables used during the call (e.g., {{contact_name}}, {{demo_date}}, etc.)

It's pre-filled using the details from earlier steps, but you can refine it anytime in Advanced Settings.

🔁 Working with Variables

  • Dapta will auto-generate a list of variables detected from your prompt (e.g., contact_name, company_name, demo_date)

  • These variables are used dynamically during calls to personalize the conversation

  • You can manually add or remove variables using the Add Variable button

  • Fill in sample values for these variables in the Test Call Setup section to preview how they’ll sound

📞 Try a Test Call

  • Add a test phone number

  • Click Test Call to hear your AI agent deliver the prompt using the variable values you entered

⚙️ Go to Advanced Settings

When you're ready to fine-tune the prompt, click Go to advanced settings to make edits and adjustments.
